The Revenue Compass Blog

We have some very exciting news I’d like to share.

When I started this consulting firm in 2014, I had just left Aerotek after 13 years with a strict non-compete and no personal network in Chicago. It was a daunting way to start my practice. Thankfully, a handful of people were willing to grab coffee, share stories and make an introduction, or even give me a chance to add value within their own organization. Had it not been for those people, who I have already thanked privately, we would not be here today.

Around that same time, Molly & I got engaged. For years, I had put my professional career WAY in front of my personal life, and thanks to her I finally found a better balance. In doing so, part of my original vision for CPC was growing and expanding into the Milwaukee area in Q1 2020, not necessarily because it was the next best market for our work, but because we wanted to raise our kids close to family. While we are a couple quarters behind schedule, I am proud to announce that we have officially opened our Wisconsin office (just outside of Milwaukee)!

In order to reach this goal, I knew that we would have to build a strong team, partner with “culturally aligned” clients and, most importantly, do great work together.

Strong Team: Though a mutual connection, Selina Doran & I were introduced in 2015 as she was pursuing her Master’s Degree from Northwestern University. Immediately, I knew she was the right 1st hire. Upbeat, positive and extremely driven. While it’s not a practice we recommend, I offered her the job on-the-spot and it was the best professional decision I’ve made. Side-by-side, and through many up-and-downs, Selina has been instrumental in building our practice and refining our unique methodology. She is our “integrator” and plays that same role with all of our clients. Her professionalism, attention to detail and responsibility to meet & exceed expectations is second-to-none.

"Culturally Aligned" Clients: The best part of the work we do is who we do it with. Over the last 6 years, we have worked directly with the Founder(s) & Executive Leaders of 80+ companies. Entrepreneurs are a special breed - they / we are willing to endure risk and experience pain to pursue a vision. Inside of that community, we’ve found leaders who are humble, hard-working, transparent, vulnerable and willing to change to get better. It has been a privilege helping these leaders and companies take steps forward in realizing their dreams.

Great Work Together: None of this would matter if our collaborative efforts didn’t produce results. In each engagement, we have identified & recognized what is unique to our clients and infused it into our process & methodology. The integration and implementation of our combined work has led them to “win more of the right clients” through a refined sales strategy, streamlined sales process and a specialized and aligned sales structure. Together, with our clients, we have built the foundation for their own high performing sales team that is both scalable and sustainable. The impact has been tremendous, bringing them one critical step closer to their desired future state.

2020 has been an unprecedented year and I’m thankful to have such a great family, team, clients, strategic partners and network surrounding us. Personally and professionally, this has been one of our very best years, and we wouldn’t be here without the love and support from A LOT of people.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t say it…thanks to the mass adoption of video conferencing we have been able to support clients, just the same, all over the country. Geography now matters very little in our work and our deliverables remain the same. That said, just as we built (and are continuing to build) our business in Chicago, we plan on doing it in Milwaukee in a similar fashion…one cup of coffee at a time (even if it’s over Zoom). If you know anybody who may be interested in learning more about our services, we would greatly appreciate an introduction.

Thanks again for being an advocate of Carver Peterson. We are grateful for you and are eager & excited to continue building together.
